January

Lizzy is growing big and strong. She rolls over and mushes bread into her high chair. Some food gets into her mouth, but she mostly just likes to play with it.

Merinda had a great birthday.
All the Techmeyer family pitched in to get her a Kelty Kids backpack to carry Lizzy. We have used it a couple times. We took it out yesterday for the first big test. We intended to snowshoe, but the trail was well packed, so we just hiked toward Dog Lake up Big Cottonwood Canyon.

We didn't reach the lake; we didn't even reach the fork to Desolation. We had fun, though. Lizzy enjoyed herself and the backpack gets raving reviews.

We also spent a great birthday celebration with the Reeder families. We enjoyed a barbecue chicken dinner with all the trimmings and had the yummy birthday cake with the strawberry mousse filling.

Clinton has been upgrading the entire home network. Merinda's bonus added to his laptop fund enough to get a refurbished MacBook Pro. His Powerbook now replaces the G3 and completes the family's international-friendly computer initiative. Our home network can now be at home anywhere. Clinton replaced the hard drive in the powerbook and he says he never wants to see that part of the computer ever again.

The other exciting thing we got with Merinda's bonus was a digital point-and-shoot camera that is dustproof and waterproof. The salesman said it's also ketchup-proof, which we think might come in handy. We've taken lots of pictures, including those in this post.
