Clinton's sister joined us in Washington DC for her birthday, ostensibly to attend a storytelling event in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Upon arriving, though, we decided to scrap the stories and go south to Monticello, the mansion of Thomas Jefferson.

We got lost on the way, having procured some bad directions. We stopped at a corner store in search of gas, directions, and a bathroom. While there, we got a great birthday lunch of hot dogs and pringles. Yippee!

Monticello was a good time. Impressive mansion, and good insights into the man who built it.

And a view from the other side of the mansion.

Aunt and Niece got along just fine; though Lizzy made Aleigh work for the "favorite aunt" distinction. With plenty of attention, funny faces, impromptu games, and play time, however, Aleigh and Lizzy were solid friends by the end of the visit.
