My sister came to visit us. We had planned for her to arrive just after Clinton's week of baby leave was over, but since Emma waited 10 days to arrive, Clinton got to spend his week being well-cared-for instead of being the caregiver.

Jen cooked, cleaned, organized, and stayed up with Emma so that we all got all the sleep we needed.

She took such good care of us that I was feeling well enough to take a couple tourist excursions. We went downtown. I found a nice bench to sit on and rest while Clinton and Lizzy took Jenni on the long walk to see the Lincoln Memorial and the reflecting pool. Jen and Lizzy got on fabulously.

Pretty soon, anything Jen was doing was a pretty good thing for Lizzy to do, whether it was sitting by the fountain at a memorial, mixing cookies, or emptying the dishwasher.

Jen stayed from Tuesday until Sunday. She brought the energy I wish I had, missed the sleep I would have missed, cooked better than I cook, amused Lizzy, held Emma, kept my feet up and my water bottle filled, and generally did all I would like to have done and simply couldn't.

It was only after she left and Clinton returned to work yesterday that Lizzy started some jealous behaviors. We're really trying to make it clear that Elizabeth is just as important as ever, and that the new baby is not there to take her place. I thought we had won the battle; but it appears that we have some more fights on that front.

The sibling jealousy...what a thing. When Matt was 3 months old Emma asked if we could take him back to the hospital!
I love Jen! I don't know if she remembers me, but I always looked up to her. I'm so glad you had your big sis there to help out! And getting out so soon after the baby was born--incredible! I hope you continue to do well!!
Oh! What a great thing to have a sister that comes at the right time and knows all the right things to do!
Thanks for the link to the Brooks talk. I really enjoyed it!
Good luck to you with new baby Emma!
Oh that's so nice that your sister was able to come! My sister came out a few weeks after Tyler was born and it was great, even just for someone else to be there to just hold your baby every now and then and nothing else.
I'm glad your sis was able to come out!
Can I adopt Jenni as my big sister?
Glad to hear all about the help you got. I am glad that you are feeling well enough to get out. Good luck with all that sweet baby brings to your world.
