STINK

We got a new housemate yesterday. He had hardly driven the U-haul away when an overwhelming odor arrived, smelling to us like cigarette smoke.

I went down there to clarify the house rules, and they showed me their stick of burning incense. They insist there has been no cigarette. It made me cough and closed up my throat pretty efficiently right there and right then.

Since then, they have lit up a few more times. I think that there is some cig under there. And I think incense is just as much like the inside of a chimney.

Am I overreacting?

Can you tell the difference between cigarettes and incense?

of course insence is used to cover up cigarettes or worse, I'd delve right in that and check it out. If the isence bothers you, tell them that's not allowed either it bothers you and your family! You are the boss. Good Luck...

yeah. really good quality incense can be nice, but most is smelly smoke...and often just helps hide the smell of weed being smoked. i'd just ban all "smoke," whether inhaled or let into the air if it's bothering you.

In my opinion, incense is just another kind of unpleasant. Yuck. It's your place, hold your ground, and send those renters packing.

I agree with all of the above. In my experience, incense is generally used to cover the smell of pot. I think there should be a no-smoking-of-any-kind rule.

I agree with everything above too. And yeah, there is a huge difference between cig smoke and insence. Both are gross in my opinion.

I'm the first to say that the smell - no matter what it is - will bleed through that house like vomit will soak through a papertowl. I've been there and seen that (smelt that) first hand! Bummer.
