I have a book due back to my local library on February 9th.
I have a book that will be held until February 10th.
My local library has been closed due to snow.
The library will be closed tomorrow and Sunday, too.
Monday is a federal holiday, so the library will be closed again.
It will be February 16th before I can go to the Library.
Luckily no fines will accrue; and I expect they will still hold my book.
Still... I have overdue book anxiety.
My mom is a Librarian in a county where libraries are open Monday through Saturday.
The county would close on Thanksgiving and the Friday after. The library would then open on Saturday. If any federal holiday or county holiday occurred on Friday, the library would always open Saturday. I wished Pete (he made those decisions) would just close the library on Saturday, too, allowing nice vacations. I also wished Pete would close the libraries for Christmas Eve, but he never did.
Pete was concerned about coverage. He wanted patrons to have access to the library.
Here in MD, due to budget shortfalls, there was a huge library furlough for 2 weeks between Christmas and New Year. Now they are experiencing the Snowmageddon of 2010 and the library is closed for a full week.
It's weird to me that overdue book anxiety can run for days in limbo.

That's funny. Especially because I have such a hard time getting mine back on time. I have to focus extra hard....maybe because I never had to before now.
Oh, I hate the feeling of the overdue library book! I had a few anxiety moments this last weekend because we had a dvd out and it was due on Tuesday. It seemed like everyday I had a moment of "Did I forget to return that dvd? Oh, wait. It's not due til Tues."
BTW, I never wanted to turn a book in late to your mom. It was like admitting to my own mom that I did something bad. :)
