Mall Walking

In an effort to get excersize, particularly in very cold or very hot weather, many Americans go Mall Walking. Mommies with strollers, grannies in pairs, and teenagers who might be looking for something besides excersize by the speed of their mall walking. This is how some bargain hunters know where the bargains are. Mall walking, for many Americans, occurs in large indoor shopping centers comprised of several stores.
We enjoy a whole different kind of mall walking, "on the Mall" instead of "at the mall."
I love living in someone else's vacation.
One Saturday early in October we took a stroll past the World War II monument, down the reflecting pool, to the Lincoln Memorial, and down to the tidal basin where the Jefferson Memorial stands. We stopped for an ice cream. As you can see, Lizzy claimed ownership of my ice cream, which she didn't want to eat - but she did want to hold.

I also love the feeling of living somewhere that people come from all over the world to see. It feels a little empowering. But I also feel kinds guilty for not taking advantage of it as much as I could. I've been to DC, especially the Mall dozens of times, but still, how can one see it all?! Let's go together sometime. And hopefully the ice cream, and Lizzy for that matter, are included that time too. Been to the zoo lately?
