Wonder Fruit

There it is - vitamin power. I'm not a huge fan of bananas as a whole; they squish easily in lunches and backpacks, they have a short window of edibility, and they aren't actually very tasty, nor do I like their texture.

However, they have their place in the world. When traveling internationally, I choose bananas as my healthy snack since they are easy and fast to peel and don't need to be washed - like an apple, for example.

The other occasion when I choose the banana is when I am pregnant. It's not that I crave them; in fact their flavor gets stronger and not better. It's the potassium. I get some nasty charlie-horse cramps - particularly at night. What does a girl do about the agonizing seizing up of calf muscles at 3:00 a.m. when a bloodcurdling scream is in order and your snoring husband doesn't want to wake up?
A banana a day.
Hide them in fruit smoothies.
Lizzy prefers smooshing them into her tray. She doesn't like them any more than I do.

Is that all I have to do to make them GO AWAY? Even I might eat a banana if that is the case.

You are ever so wise!

Yeppers. A Banana a day keeps the cramps away. Try it for 5 days, and then go a day or two without, and you'll be a believer, too!
Wisdom is accepting good counsel from somebody who knows. I'm just passing along someone else's tidbits... which work.

I LOVE bananas - especially when they're too ripe for anyone else to eat them. I don't usually get leg cramps when I'm pregnant. Maybe that's why . . .

Love them bananas, but agree with you on their texture and vulnerability in a lunchbag or backpack. Good luck with all your pregnancy woes. Love the babies - but pregnancy, not so much.

I can't say that bananas have done the trick for me in stopping charlie horses (which have been worse this time for some reason). But, Steve always reminds me that in a moment of desperation (ice packs not available) I used a frozen banana to dull the pain.

Bananas vanish faster than I'd like around here. My girls eat at least a banana a day if we have them. It's a great bed time snack. And Brian and I like them too so they disappear long before they are bad, in most cases. It's a good thing we live within walking distance of Walmart. I can send Brian out for bananas just about any time.

Heard about the old-wives tale of putting a bar of soap under your sheets? I think that's how it goes. It's something totally senseless like that. Maybe you should add that with the banana kick!
