Family Home Evening

Lizzy's cousin Julia collected beanies and now is in high school on the cusp of adulthood. She generously sent along some critters with Clinton's birthday present.

They contributed to one of our more successful family home evening lessons.

In our church, we are encouraged to set aside Monday nights as family night, and we try to have an official Family Home Evening, which consists of a song (lately "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star") a prayer, a short lesson, and another song and prayer. With a busy toddler, our lessons generally last less than 5 minutes while we try to get Lizzy to come back to the couch and participate.

Pictures figure heavily, and topics are simple: how to pray, obeying parents, God gave me a body, and so on. Yesterday's topic was sharing. The beanie critters were a hit as we practiced sharing, made animal noises, then they started having conversations and visiting up and down the couch. Lizzy was completely involved and our lesson went on for 15 minutes. She shared with Daddy, Emma, and me.
