Boy Scouts

I often wished I could be in cub scouts, especially when they did the rain gutter regatta and the pinewood derby. When my brother got a hiking backpack and really nice hiking boots, I wanted to join in the fun. I figured I could do a good turn daily, too, if I got a spiffy uniform with a cool yellow neckerchief.
Clint's dad was a scoutmaster. Their varsity scouts built some kayaks several years back.
Since we were headed for Bear Lake, we decided to take them along. We put a new cover on one. We thought we'd have to refinish all three; but they were in really good condition and quite seaworthy, considering they've been in the garage since before Clinton's mission.
I have been planning on joining the scouts as a den mother. So far, I have two beautiful daughters. I'm not trying to get the BSA to change their charter and include girls; but if my girls are interested in tying knots and making boondoggle and shooting targets and swimming, then we may go after merit badges on our own.
And we'll have our own pinewood derby.
And we'll borrow Grandpa's scout kayaks.
Maybe we won't wear the yellow neckerchiefs, though. I think we can get by without those.

Steve's the scout master. I'll mention this to him. :)

LOVE THE PICTURES!! I wish you many more scouting activities and possibly some boys in your future. But, like I tell Brian, don't let the lack of a son stop you from teaching your children how to fish and throw a ball - even if you're a girl too.
