And there you have the new house. We have the top floor. Three beds, two baths, a living room, and a kitchen. We also get access to the laundry in the basement. This is huge for us. At $3.00 a load, this represents a massive savings in quarters for us.We tested out our guest room already. My brother and his wife arrived a scant 72 hours after the move-in, and were good sports to stay with us in a half-unpacked box-filled disorganized mess. They left yesterday and I'll post photos of their visit separately.
And here is the back of the house. That soggy couch has been hauled off; but this gives you an idea of our yard. I think it will be a project for the earliest hints of spring. For now, I think the focus will be inside.
Tomorrow should see the exodus of our smoking house mate. Landlord forbids smoking in the house and we are pretty adamant about it too, so after several stinky and choking evenings and an equal number of conversations between the upper and lower tenants and the landlord, the smoker, receiving the ultimatum, chose "or get out." The non-smoker will remain.Once we get a little more settled, photos of the interior will start showing up as background to our lives. I'll do a "before and after" once I get the time and means to replace the curtains with something inexpensive and new and clean and, well... current.
I'll let this one shot of the main bathroom vanity speak for the style, condition, and era of the interior.
It's an "inexpensive" place, the best single family home portion we could afford in a safe neighborhood. We feel we are getting a pretty good deal, despite the little features that aren't particularly selling points.
