Cocoa

I tell you the best hot cocoa in the entire world is a homemade recipe; but it comes out in quantities to satisfy a double trip to Costco, and it does take a bit of initial effort.

Second to that is LDS food storage cocoa. I prefer it to Stephens, or Swiss Miss, or everybody else. I've had some high-end cocoa that might dominate in all out best cup; but for the price and effort...

So you've got a pretty fine cup of cocoa on a December morning with the Christmas tunes jamming and the kids playing near the tree and not in the tree. How can you improve it?

Remember that half-finished pint of cream you bought for the Thanksgiving sweet potatoes? Yep, just a bit of that, and you've reached some kind of bliss. Kids happy, tree lights twinkling, high-calorie beverage... Happy holidays.

May we find out this all time best homemade cocoa recipe? I have the cutest jars that need some homemade cocoa to fill them.

And yes, your scene comes across as quite the Christmas card moment.

Here's the recipe... mostly.
2 pounds powdered sugar [really? I thought it was 2 cups. fine. 2 pounds.]
24 oz creamer (the powdered kind they have in the coffee aisle)
1 bigger box of generic chocolate milk mix. (last time I did it there were two packs of choc milk mix - perhaps of a smaller size.)
and the medium size box of powdered milk... I think it's 4 lbs.
Then you mix all these powders. You might consider testing: once you've done it, make a cup and see if it's right...

Yum! I lived with a friend for a while and her Mom made homemade cocoa. I have thought of it many times. I am sure there supply went down a lot faster while I was there.

BTW the Church's cocoa is Stephens. They got the recipe from them and make the same cocoa for cheaper. I LOVE IT! We are out and I think it is time for a trip. When I feel better anyway. I am sure cocoa is just what I need to feel better though. Hmmm.

Crush up 2-3 candy canes
Mix with 8 oz of cool whip.
Seriously the best topping for cocoa. It is crunchier at first, but let it sit for a while and it becomes a fluffy pepperminty dream.
