Old Lady with Insane Allure

Nearly 2 years ago Lizzy got a Barbie for Christmas. Her parents were not the source of this doll; I might possibly harbor some negative views regarding her as a symbol of materialism, sexism, unrealistic expectations, and so on. In her time, Lizzy's Barbie has been confiscated at very little provocation... the girls fight over her and nobody gets much warning... she's on top of the fridge. Not returned very quickly, either. Many months ago -- seasons ago -- Barbie fell off the fridge and got lost. I didn't exert a whole lot of effort looking for her.

Today one of Lizzy's friends came to play. She brought her "Belle" Barbie doll. She played nice and shared nice.
Lizzy wistfully recalled her own Barbie, now missing for so long. How much she wanted her precious doll - I could feel the boundless want in her little heart.

I moved the fridge, swept up the dust, and picked up 3 magnets and one Barbie doll.

I cleaned her off, shook the dust out of her hair, clorox-wiped her exposed plastic, and handed her over to a little girl that was transported into the seventh heaven, filled with bliss and delight at the discovery of her beloved Barbie. Think of the lost piece of silver or the prodigal son... it was epic.

Lizzy is happy beyond the delights of little girls.
Emma has a whole lot of desire and maybe some envy.

I made them take 5-minute turns with Barbie. When it wasn't her own turn, Emma lurked around Lizzy's friend to try to get a chance to snatch Belle.

Emma was very sad that everybody had something so special and so desirable and so lovely and nice. Everybody except Emma.

There may be no peace in this home as long as we have two daughters and one Barbie doll.

I left Barbie behind the fridge for nearly a year on purpose. I sort of wish I hadn't retrieved her from a dark exile; but Lizzy's joy is just too complete.

That old lady really ought to be put to rest... instead, I suppose we need to get her a friend.

Yay! I can see where you're coming from, but I have oodles of fond memories of barbie from my childhood.
