Once upon a time I was an early teenager, and there was a partial eclipse. My grandparents were in town, my aunt and cousins were at our house, and we were remodeling, well into the demolition phase, so there was no roof or walls on my parents' bedroom. The adults made a pinhole viewing device for safe eclipse viewing. You look at the shadow of the eclipse, rather than at the eclipse itself.

Yesterday (Sunday) was another eclipse, and we were having dinner at my mom's house. My brother bought a whole stack of superior safe viewing devices so that we could actually look at the eclipse. He used one to filter his camera, too, and took a bunch of really cool pictures. This experience was far superior to my teenage experience.
If you viewed the shadow of the eclipse yesterday with a pinhole device, maybe you'll get lucky for the next one and have a brother who springs for eclipse filters. Or, maybe you'll spring for the filters for your family party. Thanks, Mike, it was really cool.

No that is not a child being flung from a burning building... we played Zoey's favorite game: throw the children up in the air. These are Lizzy's hang-time shots.

That isn't disgust on my face. I'm studying my new watchband that Colette made for me. I really do like it. I was smiling at least inside. Really.
