First Born

I got tagged on Facebook, and I'm a little reserved there, so I thought I'd respond here instead. Besides, I'm so overdue for a post. Sorry, loyal readers. I've lost my energy somewhere.

1. WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED?
Yes indeedy
2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME?
To my best friend, yes.
3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS?
Happy, of course, and a little surprised. We'd been trying for while and the hectic month that it worked out for us we had kind of blown it off - figured we'd think about it next month.
4. HOW OLD WERE YOU?
27 when I found out; 28 when I delivered.
5. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT?
Pregnancy test - but I kind of knew and was trying not to hope. See 3.
6. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST?
Aside from my husband, my sister Jen.
7. DUE DATE?
June 15 2006 - my nephew Andrew's birthday\
8. ACTUAL DATE BABY WAS BORN?
Father's day, June 18th
9. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS?
No - but Clinton made me at least 2 breakfasts, sometimes 3 before I could actually eat one. He's so patient.
10. WHAT DID YOU CRAVE?
Salads, mostly. Also cantaloupe. How did I gain 60 lbs?
11. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST?
Eggs. I hated eggs in any form. I also had some very vividly real and disturbing dreams: after one I wouldn't talk to Clinton for days except in one-word responses. Also, speaking of cantaloupe, my ankles reached that size by about week 30.
12. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX?
Pinky pink girl.
13. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING?
Nope - but I didn't believe the first ultrasound
14. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY?
60, after starting 15 lbs overweight anyway
15. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER?
Two of them. I find showers to be fun if they're for somebody else; but I'm an awkward guest of honor.
16. WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW?
I knew.
17. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY?
cantaloupe ankles. Absurd weight gain. (kept my customary low blood pressure, though)
Also, I'll spare you the gory details of the infectious extended recovery. Blech and eeewwww.

18. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH?
LDS hospital in Salt Lake City
19. HOW LONG DID IT LAST?
17 hours-ish
20. WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL?
Clinton drove me. It was a Saturday afternoon and we'd been having a pre-Father's day brunch with his family. Ari made me laugh a lot, and my water broke.
21. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Clinton, our Doula-in-training, my mom, and Clinton's mom -- some days I'm amazed that I invited the moms; but it was a good experience altogether.
22. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION?
Natural - but not quite as natural as I intended. Didn't plan on pitosin or the epidural.
23. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN?
Oh yeah. After 10 hours I was still only dilated to a 3... where I'd been for 3 weeks.
24. HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH?
9 pounds even
25. WHEN WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN?
7:30ish in the morning.
26. WHAT DID YOU NAME HIM/HER?
Elizabeth Anne Reeder
27. How old is your 1st born?
2 years old
