Bonk

Perhaps I am a rotten mommy; I laughed when I arrived to pick up Lizzy last night.

Lizzy spends her days with Samantha. Samantha's front room has a short flight of carpeted stairs that Lizzy likes. Lately, she's enjoyed sliding down the stairs in her belly, face first. Samantha tries to avoid this by distracting her, taking her somewhere else to play, telling her "no", putting her in timeout, and giving her dire warnings of unpleasant certainties. Sometimes when I pick Lizzy up, she does this while I'm talking to Samantha, and I usually tell her that I'll have no sympathy when she does get hurt.

Sure enough, yesterday the game ended. Lizzy had some toy in her hand when she went down. Bit of a bruise on her hairline, and a beauty between the eyes. She fell asleep in the car on the way home and this is what we brought into the house.

As I was taking her coat off, she woke up and tore off the band-aids and was rubbing and touching the bonk, which had some open skin. I want to keep it clean, so I showed her the mirror. She got pretty upset and acquiesced to a Dora band-aid - "sticker" - as she put it.
That didn't last very long either; but it got her to stop touching it.

And here she is this morning with the bruise developed. Poor kid has mean parents; we laughed at it and exploited her pain by taking photos of little Rocky.

We did also cuddle and snuggle our sad baby and give her ibuprofen to help it feel a bit better.

Oh I would have laughed too! I love that she calls the bandaid a sticker. What a cutie (even with the Rocky owie)!

Poor Baby! I would've laughed too, though. Pretty soon she may go through the phase my girls are in that every bump and three-day old scar needs a band-aid. I should buy stock in band-aids!

Awe, poor thing. Little Calvin looks like a walking bruise every time I see him. Of course, Maura is not allowed to experience any sort of pain.

Yes, Calvin did get that very same in between the eyes bruise. It was a hard hit but he screemed more when I put the ice on. Oh us moms are cruel imagine putting ice on it! Ugh do we know anything?
