My family and some friends who go way back call me Mindy. One of my roommates thought Merinda, my given name, was much prettier, and I agree. I've gotten old, I suppose, because in church they call me Sister Reeder. There are a crowd who, if I met them now, would still call me Tec (more than 100, thanks J.) When Lizzy wants a parent, any parent, she calls for Mommy-Daddy. Then she often specifies, "no I want my Daddy."
Lizzy knows that her Daddy is named Clinton, and she doesn't shorten it to Clint as many do. I suppose because most frequently she hears me call him by the full Clinton.
Recently, we were with one of Lizzy's favorite people in the world, Samantha, who is Lizzy's daycare provider and a member of our congregation. Samantha asked Lizzy, "What's your daddy name?"
"Clinton."
"And what's your mommy name?"
"Sister Reeder."
Yep. There you have it.

She is very smart, your Lizzy! The day I had Ricky, my mom was in the hospital with us and we finally told her the name we'd chosen: his first name was Richard and his middle name would be Olds. She got so excited that because of his initials we could call him Rock! I gave her a puzzled look and she said, in complete seriousness, "R.O.C." It took a bit of explaining and a lot of laughing to realize that she'd named him Richard Olds Cindy. As pretty as your given name is and as much as I heard people call you Tec, you will always be my Mindy!
Cute Lizzy. Yes, you have arrived when your real name is Sister Reeder (and yes, you're now old). :)
We had a neighbor with 2 little girls and one day Chad asked one of them what her mother's name was and she replied "uhhhh, Momma?"
I love Lizzy. So smart!! You are Min to me. I go for the extra-short names, I guess. My girls insist on naming several of their baby dolls "Shelly." I should take that as a compliment I suppose.
Yeah, I'm one of the Mindy-ers to ya! I don't think I ever got around to calling you Tec. I understand the desire to use your pretty given name. Both my older sisters went from "cami and shelly" to Camille and Shelyce once they got to/through college. If you'd like, I'll call you Merinda... it'll just take me a while to get used to it! Love ya!
Very funny, Diana, as you're the one who inspired me to switch names, and then sent Alisha to perpetuate "Mindy". She, along with Rick Hansen calling me "Tec" ensured that there would be a mix rather than a solid break coinciding with my mission.
You can call me what you want, just not "Sister Reeder" from you.
I could get used to calling you Merinda if you wanted. But I must admit, Mindy comes to mind first. Heck. Sometimes I still call Diana Nanners. Its just that I didn't even know your real name for years. But, I'll try.
Seriously? If someone calls me Sister Morrell, I still look around for someone else. Maybe when Marcus gets older.
It's still Mind to me. Tec does bring memories though...(pause for a plethora of memories flooding in - along with a few laughs)...Do you really let Lizzie call your husband by his first name?
I know of a couple of schools where I could find "Tec" written on the walls.
