Memorial Day

We asked Lizzy where we should go, the beach, the sea, the woods, by car, by boat, by train...

Lizzy wanted to go on the metro train. So we decided to poke around down town.

We got off the metro and walked right up to a parade-in-progress.

After 10 minutes, there was the 3:00 moment of silence. As we observed, the city got quiet and I reflected on those soldiers who have sacrificed. Off in the distance, a lone bugler played taps.

We were surprised at how UNcrowded the air conditioned museum of art was after the parade.

We also spent our ice cream money on Lizzy's National Mall Carousel experience. She enjoyed it quite a lot.
