teaching responsibility

Our eldest daughter is old enough to take on some household responsibilities. Since she tends to leave lots of crumbs and other foodstuffs under her chair, we thought the kitchen floor would be a fitting and useful chore.
I know I could do it faster on my own than taking the time to teach her. Today, after about half an hour on her own, I stepped in to help with the sweeping. We finished that together, and then we started the mopping. 40 minutes later, we had successfully cleaned the partial squares under the edge of the cabinets... probably all of 12 square feet.
Perhaps teaching Lizzy to clean the floor will finally put me into labor?
And perhaps, in time, I won't have to think about the kitchen floor any more.

It is so hard to TEACH sometimes. I include this in my nightly prayer..."Help me to teach." When I find myself scolding, I think, how could I teach instead of yelling? When I find myself frustrated with too much to do, I find myself thinking, if I taught them to help... It's that dang DILIGENCE thing, again, though. It's hard to stick with the process of teaching EVERY DAY! Ha ha. It gets easier, though. Your kids start to get a little older and then it's more of an explaining thing than a get down and participate thing. Although, continuing on in the birthing process tends to keep us all on the floor! Good luck. You are in my prayers (I pray for you to have an easy, laid back, wonderfully blissful labor with a spiritual and miraculous delivery--in case you were wondering). All my love and support...from afar.
