We left Missouri at about 7:00 and drove East.
Gassed up in Illinois around 8:00
In Indiana, Clint wanted a drink so I pulled off at the next exit, which didn't have a convenient gas station... it just had a long winding road. We took this scenic route for about 5 miles before we found a place where we could turn our rig around and go back to the freeway. We did find some sprite and gasoline in Indiana.
By now the sun was up. Did I mention that we haven't got working air conditioning in this rig? I suppose a/c is better to break than a drive train; but still not really comfortable. Lizzy was furious when we tried to strap her back in. She was hot and mad. We put a cold drink up against the side of her and she grabbed on and hugged it like a stuffed animal. We purchased four bottles of soda at that stop; two for Lizzy to snuggle and one for each of us.
Clinton took the wheel at a refueling stop just inside Ohio and drove straight across. By this time Lizzy got terminally bored.
We finally hit the hotel in West Virginia, in the skinny 20-mile wide part of the state on the north end.
This hotel is great for a bubble bath. Recharged and ready to go.
Today will be Pennsylvania and Maryland.
We're almost ... home.
Let's just hope that our leasing agent hasn't leased our apartment to somebody else. What a nightmare, honestly.
The adventure is going well.
We're happy and hot.
