Takeoff

So our initial plan to roll out of Utah around 5:00 or 6:00 was foiled. We took too long cleaning and couldn’t seem to figure out how to pack and load up our last 8 armloads of belongings. Felt like we were going backwards. Saturday mid morning I was trying to give away two bottles of toilet bowl cleaner and Clinton was trying to reinstall the industrial door closer in the stripped screw holes on our apartment.

We count this keystone cops routine as divine intervention; our target last night was Kansas. Today is tornado week and evidently yesterday saw 3 or 8 tornado fatalities and a whole city blown away… not even trailer parks, but real buildings. I felt like Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt would pop any minute as scientific experts and tell us what was special about this storm; they had storm chasers and everything on the weather channel.

But tornado or no, we’re on the road again this morning. Yippee!
