Again, no photos. My mom makes the best eggs around, and fed us omelets and hash browns before sending us off for a few days with the Reeder family.
We spent the early afternoon chatting with Clinton's parents and helping set up Christmas decorations. Lizzy enjoyed having a dog. Briscoe is pretty sedate; but Lizzy squealed with delight every time she seemed likely to follow Lizzy in any "chase", which was generally whenever Lizzy was in possession of food.
We had some errands to run, as did Clint's parents, and so all went our separate shopping ways. We met up again at the house to fix Christmas Dinner - or the pre-Christmas dress rehearsal dinner. Clint's family showed up around 6:00. Since Janice works for UPS and it's December, she could not come... which will be the case for the real party on Christmas Eve, as well.
Family dinners at the Reeder home are noisy chaotic events with everybody talking over each other and kids running around. Since Grandma and Grandpa got a game cube, though, the kids head for the basement and the noise is reduced only slightly in the family room where the adults talk and laugh. From the time the first cousins arrived, we didn't see much of Lizzy. She was delighted with all the playmates who seemed focused on her as the novelty.
We got some lovely gifts... Shannon gave us a claymation movie, The Light Before Christmas, that I think is charming and is a great addition to our holiday movie collection. As far as I'm aware, it's available only at Thanksgiving Point. Clinton's parents gave us some games and got some puzzles for Lizzy. Then throughout the rest of our stay would come in and say, "I got this book for Lizzy" or "Here is Lizzy's Christmas ornament." or "This is a leftover ornament and it's the only one, so I can't give it to one child without being uneven to siblings, so why don't you take it for Lizzy." It's a good thing we planned for possible extra luggage.
Naturally, even after everyone headed home, we stayed up late chatting with Grandma and Grandpa.
